Underbelly is part of a body of inter-sensorial works for scent and sound by composer/trumpeter Steph Richards called SUPERSENSE. The music video is an animated surveillance fantasy that lives somewhere between John Carpenter's sci-fi thrillers and the Eames' Powers of Ten. The manic energy of the track first brought to mind the wildness of dancing atoms. Starting with that kernel of an idea, animator/director Cossa built outwards to create a loose paranoid narrative around the song's groovy hurtling musical figures. SUPERSENSE is an exploration of the emotional dialogue between sound and scent, which evokes sensations that linger in the wordless space of sonic vibration and chemical reaction.
